In clinical trials, patients typically noticed improvement within 2 days, and more than half had no or mild frown lines at 6 months, based on both patient and clinician assessments. Results vary. DAXXIFY® (daxibotulinumtoxinA-lanm) is an FDA-approved prescription injection for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows in adults. Its formulation uses a peptide to help stabilize botulinum toxin type A. Results typically begin within two days, although individual responses vary.
In the SAKURA 1 and SAKURA 2 studies, more than half of treated patients had no or mild frown lines for approximately six months or longer, based on both patient and clinician assessments. This does not mean everyone will get six months of results. Your provider will recommend follow-up based on your response, goals and medical history.
Stabilizing ingredients help protect the active ingredient in an injectable formulation. DAXXIFY® uses a peptide stabilizer instead of human serum albumin and is formulated without human or animal components. This difference does not eliminate treatment risks or make it suitable for everyone.
DAXXIFY temporarily reduces nerve signals to the muscles involved in frowning. This helps soften lines between the eyebrows that become more noticeable with facial expression. Your provider assesses your facial movement and goals to plan treatment.
Changes can begin as early as the next day and typically within two days, according to the manufacturer. Improvement develops over time; clinical studies assessed the treatment response at four weeks. Your provider will explain when to review your results.
A consultation helps determine whether your frown lines, health history and expectations make DAXXIFY an appropriate option. Do not receive it if you are allergic to a botulinum toxin product or any ingredient, or have an infection at the planned injection site. Discuss medicines, previous injections, muscle or nerve conditions, and any swallowing or breathing problems. Tell your provider if you are pregnant or breastfeeding; DAXXIFY is not recommended during pregnancy.
Ask your provider about returning to your routine and follow your individual aftercare instructions. Injection-site discomfort or bruising can occur. Results and recovery vary, so allow time to assess your response before planning further treatment. Seek immediate medical help for difficulty breathing, speaking or swallowing.
DAXXIFY® was evaluated in the placebo-controlled SAKURA 1 and SAKURA 2 trials and the repeat-treatment SAKURA 3 safety study, which treated 2,691 patients. In pooled pivotal-trial results, 74% achieved at least a two-grade improvement in frown-line severity at week four on both patient and clinician assessments. The manufacturer reports no serious treatment-related adverse events in the cited trials, but serious side effects remain possible. Reported reactions included headache, eyelid drooping and facial muscle weakness. Review the safety information below with your provider.
